Dell XPS L401X notebook weighs 3.435kg together with its battery and Dell XPS L401x AC adapter. As we all know, Dell XPS series notebook features relatively heavy, but acceptable as a gaming notebook, as a result, Dell XPS L401X notebook is not so convenient to carry for outdoor use.

The backlit keys aren't of the raised chiclet variety that we typically prefer, but the click action on the XPS L401x's keyboard was surprisingly snappy, rather than mushy like we expected it to be. We're still not fans of typing on notebook keys in general, however this is as good of a mobile keyboard as we've typed on. We were slightly bummed at not being able to change the color of the backlight.

This system is surrounded by two USB 2.0 ports, a USB / eSATA combo jack as well as HDMI, DisplayPort and ethernet sockets .There is also a headphone and headphone / mic port, but you'll definitely prefer listening to music through the speakers as they are mind blowing. It has got a DVD drive and a SD card slot live on the right edge. You can add a Blu-ray drive to the configuration too.
My WiFi enables people to share Internet access function. The reason why this Dell XPS L401X support MyWifi, mainly because the laptop has equipped with built-in Intel wireless card, which most of mainstream Intel wireless cards support MyWifi technology.
There were some good aspects to the design, though. For instance, idle Dell XPS L401x battery life improved 16% and Internet battery life went up 35%. (We noted in the L501x review that our Internet test did quite poorly, and it appears the L401x doesn’t suffer the same fate.) H.264 playback remains nearly the same at just under three hours. For gaming, the 768p resolution is also a better fit for the GT 420M GPU—1080p is simply too much for anything but low detail settings on most games without a faster GPU. The final benefit of course is the size and weight. Personally, 14” laptops are one of my favorite form factors in terms of combining a smaller size with a comfortable keyboard, reasonable display size, and HP PR08 battery life/portability. If the XPS L401x had offered a 1440x900 quality LCD upgrade, it would have been nearly “perfect” for mainstream use.
When Dell told us of its plans to revive its tried and true XPS laptop line we were pretty darn excited. Without a doubt, the Dell XPS L401X packs some extremely attractive features: the system's JBL speakers are some of the best ever put into a laptop, its Core i5 processor combined with NVIDIA GeForce GT400M provides seriously solid gaming and performance muscle, and its HD webcam captures crisp video and pictures.
The Intel Core i7 740QM processor is one of the high-end processor with advanced 45nm manufacturing process, the default clocked at 1.73GHz that can improved to 2.93GHz by (Turbo Boost) dynamic acceleration technology. Meantime, and be able to adjust 6MB three-level shared cache according to the actual load dynamic, and support Hyper-Threading technology with the maximum thermal design power of 90W Dell XPS L401x adapter.
